Purpose: hetheringtonbc is dedicated to archiving everything
Hetherington with a particular focus on the McClean Hetherington and
other British Columbia families.
Logo (graphic design: Quinn McCallum):The hetheringtonbc logo is
made up of five regional identifiers. The source area symbols are
arranged to represent the geographic location of one of four major
family branch sources. The Black Lion in the south east (lower right)
represents the English branch; the white bar on blue background in
the north east (upper right), the Scottish branch; the harp in the
south west (lower left) the Leinster/Irish branch; and the Red Hand in the
north west (upper left) the Ulster branch. The Dogwood in center
represents British Columbia branch. The encircling Dogwoods represent the unity of all Hetherington families in BC.
The four quadrant circular design is
reminiscent of the compass rose and represents the name's spread to the four corners of the world.
The motto "do you duty" is the the personal motto of Robert John McClean Hetherington, The first McClean Hetherington to settle in British Columbia. He and his family arrived in 1935.
